Poly Connections: Connecting Faculty and Staff to spaces, people, and resources across campus.

Poly Connections is an academic-year-long program designed to connect faculty and staff to physical spaces, people and resources across campus.  The weekly events fall under one of 5 themes: Socials, Teacher Training, Researcher Training, Campus Tours, and Campus Resources. Faculty and staff across campus, no matter how long they've been at Cal Poly, are welcome to attend invests of interest.  Please join us for as many events as you are able!

The curriculum consists of five major units, each with four, five or six modules, addressing core principles and practices of effective instruction. All are online, and are complemented by on-campus facilitation. The 25 modules will be allocated across Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters with support from cohort facilitators for processing and applying content in partnership with cohort peers.

The bus holds a maximum of 20 people, so sign ups are required. The group will depart from Ag Circle in front of Building 10.

 

Participants will be able to see the Oppenheimer Family Equine Facility, JUSTIN and J.LOHR Center for Wine and Viticulture, Trestles vineyard, CP Strawberry Center, Grimm Family Organic Center, OH Greenhouse Complex, Rodeo Grounds, Dairy and Creamery, Meat Processing Facility, Animal Nutrition Center, Poultry Unit, Learning Pines Arboretum and Vet. Cerro Alto Hike

Cerro Alto is one of the tallest peaks in San Luis Obispo County and is a difficult hike (1600 feet (~500 meters)) of elevation gain. Feel free to bring friends, family and dogs (on a leash) who are comfortable with hiking up hill. $5 cash required for parking.

Learning Support Center, Library Special Collections, and Student Ombuds Services Open House

Join us for coffee and donuts and an open house at the new location for the Learning Support Center, Library Special Collections and Student Ombuds Services spaces in Bldg 26 and learn about these important campus resources.

The Learning Support Center is designed as the one-stop shop for student academic support on campus. Our new space in Building 26 houses the study session, supplemental instruction, and tutoring coordinating offices and includes a dynamic study area where free tutoring and academic coaching sessions take place. Come meet the Learning Support team and hear more about the academic assistance available to your students.

 

Special Collections and Archives acquires, organizes, describes, preserves, interprets, and provides access to primary research materials in their original formats to support discovery, education, and research at all levels and across disciplines. Please stop by to learn more about the campus's collections and how to schedule research visits, classroom visits, and instructional sessions.  

 

The Office of Student Ombuds Services is a campus resource for all Cal Poly students. The Ombuds staff are committed to hearing about students’ experiences. The office offers a safe place to go for assistance in resolving any university related issue, concern, conflict, or complaint. Please stop by to learn more about how you can help students know about our services.
